Site Visit on 13th June

The site visit at 'Domaine de Beaucastle' exemplifies a commitment by  stakeholders to minimize new resource usage in construction materials and reduce energy consumption, both in embodied and operational energy. This approach embodies a true circular economy ethos, showcased by the reuse of excavation soils on-site. Specifically, clayey soil was repurposed for rammed earth walls, visible in the brown walls depicted in the accompanying photos below (Photographes : Louis-Antoine Grégo).

Additionally, soils lacking clay were utilized in conjunction with cement, compacted with minimal water and without steel bar reinforcement. Moreover, the visit offers the opportunity to explore the renowned vineyards of 'Chateauneuf du Pape' nearby, with complimentary wine tasting included.
